First of all, I love the good-looking people in good-looking clothes. With that said, there were as many disasters as there were successes last night. For a detailed analysis of that reality, you can look here.
Really, I just love movies, and earlier in my life when I didn't see that many of them I always wondered what the point of a bunch of movies I'd never even heard of winning gold statues was...then I think Schindler's List or something like that did incredibly well both popularly (I saw it) as well as critically, and then it clicked (that was a long sentence!): good movies are moving AND fun to watch!
Therefore, next year, or, really, starting now, I will be seeing movies like crazy to see for myself which one should win in my humble opinion.
